WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. - A mostly miserable day produced a significant highlight for the Midway men's tennis team, which lost to No. 6 Cumberlands 6-1 to see the end of a four-match win streak Wednesday.
Despite the loss in a match that included a four-hour rain delay, No. 1 Midway singles player
Ricardo Starosta had arguably the top moment of his unbeaten season with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Jacopo Cianfarini, the No. 44-ranked singles player in the NAIA.
Starosta, who was also undefeated with doubles partner
Mudiwa Munyimani before a 6-1 loss to Gabriele Solda and Darius Kuster on Wednesday, is 5-0 at the No. 1 singles spot this spring.
The Patriots had no trouble at any other positions, however, as they lost no more than three games in any other set.
Now 4-2, the Eagles will face another in-state, non-conference opponent Friday, traveling to face Campbellsville.
