MIDWAY, Ky. -- The Midway men's volleyball team concluded its 2026 season Saturday, welcoming St. Mary-of-the-Woods (Ind.) to Marshall Gymnasium for Senior Day.
The Pomeroys posted a .279 hitting percentage and held the Eagles to a .068 attacking clip en route to a 3-0 sweep (25-13, 25-17, 25-21).
Prior to first serve, Midway honored its four seniors:
Gabriel Plata,
Hunter Leigh,
Noah Turner, and
Jaden Alston.
St. Mary-of-the-Woods, which improved to 27-8 overall and 9-7 in River States Conference play, recorded 31 kills compared to just 21 from Midway and also served 11 aces to the Eagles' two.
The Pomeroys trailed just once in the opening two sets before Midway made things interesting in the third. The Eagles trailed 18-15 but took a 21-20 lead following a 3-0 run capped by an ace from
Justin Comer.
Unfortunately for Midway, it would not score again, as the Pomeroys closed on a 5-0 run to clinch the sweep with a 25-21 set victory.
Aiden Huerta and Alston led the offensive effort with five kills apiece, while
Lars Ketelaars added four.
Jordan Daily dished out a team-high 11 assists and recorded five digs, while
Noah Fichter finished with eight assists. Sophomore libero
Lincoln Anderson led the defensive effort with a match-high eight digs.
Following the loss, the Eagles conclude the 2026 season with a 2-25 overall record and an 0-16 mark in league play.
