GEORGETOWN, Ky. - Midway softball made a short trip to Georgetown for a single non-conference game on Monday, and had no answer for an explosive Tiger offense in a 14-2 loss.
The Eagles initially looked like they'd have a strong counter, as they answered a three-run Georgetown first inning by scoring two in the bottom of the second. Those runs came on a
Payton Druen sacrifice fly and a
Rhealee Ellis RBI single.
The momentum would be short-lived, as the Tigers, who had 16 hits in just four at-bats, eventually put up nine runs on nine hits in a third inning where they sent 14 batters to the plate and at one point had 10 straight runners reach safely.
Randi Delong continued her excellent season in defeat, going 2-for-2 while reaching base in all three of her plate appearances.
Monday was the first of seven games the Eagles (10-31) will play over the span of four days to close the 2026 season, which starts with a home doubleheader against Oakland City Tuesday. The series, the final home game of 2026, begins at 3 p.m.
Midway will then travel to face Brescia at 3 and 5 p.m. Wednesday and Indiana Southeast at 2 and 4 p.m. Thursday. Those games were originally slated for Friday and Saturday, but were moved up due to concerns over the weather.
