CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - The Midway men's volleyball team went to the wire in the third set against the No. 5 team in the country, but ultimately lost 25-16, 25-12, 25-23 to Campbellsville in a River States Conference match Friday.
After winning the first two sets comfortably, the Tigers looked primed to do the same in the third, scoring the first five points and jumping ahead 8-2.
But little by little, Midway got back into it. Down 11-5, the Eagles scored six of the next eight points to get within 13-11 on a
Jaden Alston kill.
They kept coming, eventually taking their first lead of the set at 19-18, then going up 21-19 following
Luke Wallace and
JT Kimball kills on back-to-back possessions.
After Campbellsville scored four of the next five points, Kimball tied the match at 23 with another kill, only for the Tigers to finally put the set and match away when Lazar Spasovski and Eduardo Polli made match-ending kills.
Now 2-22 with an 0-12 record in the RSC, Midway has another tough road match on Saturday against No. 14 Georgetown at 1 p.m.
