CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Emma Pheiffer won at both singles and doubles, but Cedarville, an NCAA Division-II opponent, was too strong for Midway elsewhere, topping the Eagles 6-1 in women's tennis Wednesday.
The Eagles dropped the doubles point despite a dominant performance at No. 1 from Pheiffer and
Alicia Sanglas Sanglas, who defeated Faith Monson and Delia Guzic 6-1.
Pheiffer and Guzic then had a great battle at No. 2 singles, going to a tie-break after Pheiffer won the first set 7-6 and Guzic won the second 6-3.
But Pheiffer had a strong outing in set three, winning the point comfortably by a final of 10-5.
Following a rough stretch, the Eagles, who are 5-4 overall, return to conference play with a 2 p.m. road matchup against Shawnee State Saturday. The Eagles are currently tied for the top spot in the RSC with a record of 4-0.
