MIDWAY, Ky. -- Following the completion of one of their most successful regular seasons in recent memory, the Midway women's volleyball team finds themselves in the River States Conference Tournament for the first time since the 2014 season.
The tournament gets underway with the quarterfinals on Saturday (Nov. 14) at campus sites across the RSC. The semifinals are set for Nov. 18, while the championship is slated to be played on Nov. 18.
The higher seed will host each match throughout the championship, while the home team's fan attendance policy will also be in play. For more information on Midway's fan attendance policy, click here.
After finishing the regular season at 16-6 overall and 11-5 in league play, the Eagles earned the No. 2 seed from the RSC West Division as they're making their first appearance in the tournament since 2014.
With the Eagles being the No. 2 seed from the West, they will host Rio Grande (Ohio) – the No. 3 seed from the East Division – in the RSC Tournament Quarterfinals on Saturday. First serve is set for 2 p.m. ET in Marshall Gymnasium.
The Eagles and the RedStorm – who finished the season at 9-5 overall and 5-4 in league play – met earlier this year on October 23 in Rio Grande, Ohio. In that match, Midway dropped the first set, but stormed back winning the next three for the 3-1 win (23-25, 25-20, 31-29, 25-19).
The winner of the Midway vs. Rio Grande matchup gets the winner of IU East (Ind.) – the No. 1 seed from the East – and Brescia (Ky.) – the No. 4 seed from the West – in the semifinals on Nov. 18.
The other side of the bracket features the No. 1 overall seed and the RSC regular season champion, IU Kokomo (Ind.). The Cougars – who have already clinched a spot in the NAIA National Championship – will host Point Park (Pa.) in their quarterfinal matchup.
The winner of that matchup gets the winner of West Virginia Tech – the No. 2 seed from the East – and IU Southeast (Ind.) – the No. 3 seed from East – in the semifinals on Nov. 18.
All matches of the RSC Volleyball Championship will be streamed at the RSC Game Central presented by Stretch Internet. Subscriptions will be $7.95 per single match, $19.99 for the entire championship (7 matches) or $49.99 for all-access of all sports throughout the year.
The NAIA Women's Volleyball National Championship begins April 17, 2021 with the NAIA National Championship Opening Round. The RSC Championship winner will qualify automatically. If IU Kokomo goes on to win the RSC Championship, the tournament runner-up will receive the RSC's second national bid.
