Box Score PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Midway University men's soccer team hit the road on Thursday where it played in a River States Conference matchup against Point Park (Pa.). The Pioneers claimed a 9-0 win behind the strength of a five-goal first half.
With the loss, Midway stands at 0-10-0 overall and are 0-4-0 in the RSC while the Pioneers improve to 5-6-1 and a conference mark of 3-0-0.
The Eagles defense started the game off strong, but the hosts were able to find the back of the net on a rocket from outside the box in the 26th minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Pioneers doubled their advantage with a goal in the 32nd minute and added goals in the 33rd, 39th and 40th minutes to take a 5-0 lead at halftime.
In the second half, Point Park opened the scoring in the 52nd minute and added another just a minute later. The Pioneers then added goals in the 57th and 71st minutes to close out the scoring.
For the contest, Point Park outshot the Eagles 26-7. In goal, Tyler Glass (Louisville, Ky.) recorded five saves for Midway.
Midway men's soccer continues its three-game road trip on Saturday, October 8 when it plays Carlow (Pa.). Opening kickoff against the Celtics is scheduled for 4 p.m. in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
