Box Score WILMORE, Ky.– The Midway University men's soccer team took to the field for the final time in the 2022 season on Tuesday when it faced off against Asbury (Ky.). In a battle of two teams named the Eagles, it was Asbury who picked up the 5-0 victory.
With the loss, Midway finishes the season 2-15-0 overall while Asbury wraps up its regular season campaign with an 8-6-3 mark.
In the early portion of the game, Asbury put considerable offensive pressure on Midway but goalkeeper Tyler Glass (Louisville, Ky.) recorded nine saves in the first 22 minutes to keep things scoreless to that point. In the 23rd minute, Asbury broke the deadlock with their first goal of the day and doubled its advantage with a goal in the 25th minute.
Asbury increased its lead to 3-0 with a goal in the 51st minute. Asbury made the score 4-0 with a rebound goal in the 78th minute after Glass made a diving save on the initial free kick. Asbury then closed out the scoring with an 83rd minute goal.
For the contest, Asbury outshot Midway 28-8. In the nets, Glass recorded 13 saves for Midway.
