MIDWAY, Ky. – With Thanksgiving less than a week away, the Midway esports team is entering into the playoffs for the fall semester. The Overwatch team was especially busy as it closed out the regular season with a pair of victories and won its opening postseason match while Call of Duty faced off with Texas A&M in a playoff match and Rocket League concluded its regular season.
With this week's results, the Eagles have compiled an overall record of 21-14.
In Overwatch, the Eagles picked up a pair of wins on Sunday evening, defeating Clark University (Ontario) Chromatic 3-0 before picking up a forfeit victory in their final regular season match.
On Thursday night, Overwatch returned to the screens when they faced SUCO (N.Y.) Rouge in their opening playoff game and picked up a 3-0 win. Savanna Neace (Cynthiana, Ky.) led the Eagle offensive onslaught with 79 eliminations and 37,566 damage caused. Hunter Yeager (Sulphur, Ky.) provided 67 eliminations and 36,853 total damage while Trevor Alexander (Somerset, Ky.) eliminated 76 foes while dishing out 24,805 in damage.
Lonnie W. Loveless III (Somerset, Ky.) provided 47,618 in healing to his teammates while Caleb Bingham (Frankfort, Ky.) contributed 42,730 of healing.
In other action, Rocket League saw its regular season end with a 3-0 loss to Bethel (Tenn.). Their record entering the playoffs stands at 5-3. The Call of Duty team, coming off a first-round bye, saw their fall season end when they lost 3-0 to Texas A&M in their playoff game.
Coach Alyssa Tinker's Rocket League team will face off with North Alabama with the date and time to be announced. The Overwatch squad, which has earned the No. 3 seed will take on No. 2 seed Catawba Blue in its semifinal on Thursday, December 1 at a time to be determined.
