Esports roundup: Call of Duty makes national tournament

MIDWAY, Ky. - A recent 3-2 performance at the Southeast Region Conference Championships earned Midway Esports' Call of Duty team a spot in a national tournament being held this weekend.

In a 32-team, double-elimination tournament in which the top eight qualified for nationals, Midway finished in seventh place.

The highlight was a 3-2 win over No. 21 nationally ranked Tennessee-Chattanooga. The Eagles also earned wins over Arkansas State and Kennesaw State, with the later clinching their spot in the CollegeCOD national tournament, which run on April 17-19.

If it can get a top-eight spot this weekend, Midway will qualify for an in-person national tournament hosted by Local Arean Network (LAN) in Fairview Heights, Ill.

CollegeCOD nationals can be streamed at twitch.tv/collegecod. Opponents and start times for matches will not be revealed until the day of competition.
