Box Score MIDWAY, Ky. – The Midway University men's soccer team opened the home portion of its 2022 schedule on Saturday when it welcomed Tennessee Southern to town. Thanks to a five-goal first half, the visiting Firehawks picked up a 7-0 victory over the Eagles.
With the loss, the Eagles fall to 0-4-0 on the year while Tennessee Southern improves to 3-1-0.
In the opening minute of the contest, the Firehawks were able to find the back of the net to take an early lead they would not relinquish. Tennessee Southern then added goals in the 12th, 17th, 26th, and 41st minutes to take a 5-0 lead into the intermission.
In the second half, the Eagles played improved defense and were able to create more opportunities than in the opening 45 minutes. Unfortunately, Tennessee Southern added goals in the 58th and 80th minutes to close out the scoring for the afternoon.
For the contest, Tennessee Southern outshot the Eagles 33-4. In goal, Bryson Lynch (Evansville, Ind.) and Tyler Glass (Louisville, Ky.) each recorded four saves in 45 minutes of action.
Midway men's soccer is scheduled to return to action on Thursday, September 15 when it hosts Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.). Opening kickoff is slated for 3:30 p.m.
