Box Score COLUMBUS, Ind. - After weeks of disappointment, the Midway men's soccer team finally got to taste victory Saturday, scoring twice in a 10-minute stretch in the second half to upend River States Conference foe IUPUC (Ind.) 2-0.
The Eagles, who outshot the Crimson Pride 22-9, finally got on the scoreboard in the 55th minute when Sedrick Rugwiro found Arthur Menezes, who fired a shot by goalie Zach Mills. Just 9:45 later, Anwar Perry gave Midway needed insurance with an unassisted goal.
The output was plenty for freshman goalie Connor Vincent, who had six saves to earn both his first career win and shutout.
Midway is now 2-9 on the season, 1-4 in the RSC. Saturday was its first ever meeting with the Crimson Pride.
The Eagles will try to string together consecutive wins on Thursday, when they travel to Owensboro for a 4 p.m. matchup against Brescia.
