Asbury edges Midway in men's soccer Sunday

Box Score

MIDWAY, Ky. - One goal was all Asbury (Ky.) needed, as the Midway offense couldn't get going in a 1-0 non-conference men's soccer loss Sunday.

Salat Kipterit scored off a great Pascal Muller pass in the 11th minute and the purple-clad Eagles pitched a shutout, though Midway had its chances.

The best of which may have come in the 24th minute, when Anwar Perry blew past two defenders and got off a clean shot, only for it to be batted away on a great save by Asbury keeper Payton French. Perry also looked to have a good goal opportunity with just under five minutes to play, but a pass sailed past him as he charged towards the net.

Sunday marked the seventh straight win Asbury earned over Midway, with five of them coming via shutout.

Midway will be on the road for its next three games. The Eagles are at Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) on Sept. 16 before opening the River States portion of its schedule at West Virginia Tech Sept. 21.
