BECKLEY, W.V. - A 77th-minute goal by Leo Elder was the only offense Midway could muster, as the Eagles fell 3-1 to West Virginia Tech to begin River States Conference play Thursday night.

It was a team-best third goal of the season for Elder, who scored unassisted.

Fellow freshman Connor Vincent had 11 saves in his first career start for the Eagles, who fall to 1-6 on the season.

Things don't get any easier for Midway. which has a week off before traveling to face ninth-ranked Rio Grande (Ohio) next Thursday.
