Eagle men close fall with great rally at Firehawk Invite

ATHENS, Ala. - Midway made a furious charge up the leaderboard and eventually landed in second place to close the fall strong at the FireHawk Men's Golf Invitational on Tuesday.

In fifth-place after Monday's opening round, the Eagles had the best score of the second round, shooting a two-over-par 290. They accumulated a final, two-day score of 594 (+18).

Midway was five shots behind winner Tennessee Southern and three shots ahead of Faulkner (Ala.) and Talladega (Ala.), who tied for third.

Hayes Mason led the charge, finishing play in a tie for fifth place.

Mason made a five-stroke improvement on day two, where he shot a one-under-par 71. He shot a 147 (+3) for the tournament.

Jack Bedell cut three strokes off his score in the second round, shooting a 73 Tuesday and finishing in a tie for 10th with a final tally of 149 (+5).

Gage Gregory and Benjamin Spencer completed the scoring, Gregory tying for 26th at 152 (+8) with Spencer one stroke behind in a tie for 30th.

Midway also got a great second round from Caden Less, who made a 12-stroke improvement on Tuesday, shooting an even-par 72. Less finished in a tie for 41st.

The Eagles conclude a fall schedule that saw them win two tournaments, including a dominant victory at the River States Conference Fall Preview. A spring schedule will be posted to gomidwayeagles.com when it is released.
