NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Midway men's basketball team suffered its first loss of the season Saturday, falling 82-70 in a non-conference matchup against Fisk (Tenn.).
After trailing by double-digits early in the second half, the Eagles fought bak to get within 68-66 on a
Miguel Shaw basket with 5:16 to play. But Michael Ashely quikly answer with a bucket of his own, beginning a 6-0 run that allowed the Bulldogs to keep Midway at arm's length the rest of the night.
Decoreio Smith led Midway with 18 points and six rebounds, while reigning River States Player of the Week
Amari Wales had 13.
Now 1-1 on the young season, the Eagles have an intense stretch ahead, as they will play three games in three days next week. The first game will be against Georgetown at the Central Bank Jim Reid Classic next Thursday.
Midway's first game of the Jim Reed Classic, which is being hosted by Georgetown, will tip at 7:30 p.m.
