MIDWAY, Ky. - Points from turnovers proved to be a key difference as the Midway men's basketball's team earned its most lopsided River States Conference win in program history, a 99-62 thrashing of Oakland City Saturday.
Midway was able to score 30 points from off of 21 turnovers, leading them to the historic rout. The previous record was help by the 2018-19 team, which defeated Cincinnati Christian 86-50 on Dec. 1, 2018.
The Eagles were led by
Nick Keeton,
Amari Wales, and
Robbie Henry who lead the team in scoring with 18, 17, and 16 points respectively.
It was truly a team effort however, as all 11 players who suited up for Midway scored at least two points. The Eagle bench has been on fire of late, scoring 75 points in the last two games, including 31 on Saturday.
Defensively,
Will VanHook racked up eight rebounds and three steals. As a team, Midway was able to keep Oakland City to 41.8 percent shooting from the field and a mere 26.7 percent from beyond the arc.
The Eagles (7-10, 4-4) will have a great opportunity to climb above .500 in RSC play on Thursday, when they host one-win Indiana Columbus at 5:30 p.m.
