MIDWAY, Ky. - Midway got a late penalty-kick goal from
Sloane Pollock but was unable to contain a fast Georgetown attack early, dropping a 3-1 non-conference women's soccer match at home Wednesday.
Bekah Clark proved to be an absolute menace for the Eagle defense in the first half. Less than three minutes into the game, she made a great pass to Sophie Paul, who converted an open look to make it 1-0.
Clark then used great speed to burst forward for breakaway goals in both the 35th and 42nd minutes to make it 3-0 Tigers at the half.
The Eagle defense was able to pitch a shutout in the second half and got on the board with exactly two minutes remaining, when Pollock scored her sixth goal of the season after being dragged down on a scoring attempt.
This came just 3:16 after the Eagles had appeared to score a goal, only for it to be waved off by an offsides call.
The loss drops Midway to 3-3-1 on the year. Saturday brings a return to River States Conference play and a 1 p.m. road matchup at Oakland City.
