EVANSVILLE, Ind. -- After stepping out of River States Conference play earlier in the week, the Midway women's soccer team returned to league play on Saturday (Oct. 4) when they battled the defending conference champs in Oakland City (Ind.).
The Mighty Oaks, who are in the 'receiving votes' portion of the latest NAIA Coaches' Poll, showed why they're the favorite in the RSC after handing the Eagles a 13-1 defeat at the Goebel Sports Complex in Evansville, Indiana.
Oakland City (8-2-1, 4-0 RSC) found the back of the net seven times in the first half before Midway found paydirt early in the second half.
Midway's goal came less than two minutes into the second half when
Anna Kneisley found
Kylie Hudgins, who netted her third goal of the season.
The home team would go on to score six more goals in the second half en route to the 13-1 victory.
Midway, who falls to 3-4-1 overall and 1-2 in RSC play following the loss, is set to return to action on Thursday, Oct. 9, when they host Kentucky Christian. Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m. ET at the Midway Turf Field.
