Offense struggles for Women's Soccer in road loss to Rio Grande

RIO GRANDE, Ohio -- Following a loss at Brescia (Ky.) on Thursday, the Midway women's soccer team was back in action on Saturday when they battled Rio Grande (Ohio) in a River States Conference matchup at Evan E. Davis Field in Rio Grande, Ohio.

The RedStorm scored a goal late in the first half and then added another in the second to claim the 2-0 victory.

Jitske De Muijnk got Rio Grande (6-3-5, 4-1-1 RSC) on the board in the 41st minute before her teammate, Saskia Vos, doubled the score with an unassisted tally in the 76th minute.

It was a rough day for the Midway offense as they failed to get off a shot, while their defense was peppered with 30 shots (13 on goal) from the Rio Grande defense. Lilly Riordan allowed two goals, but stopped 11 shots in the loss.

The Eagles (4-7-1, 2-5 RSC) will return to action on Wednesday, October 22, when they travel to nearby Wilmore, Ky. to take on former RSC foe and now NCAA Division II member, Asbury (Ky.) at 7 p.m. ET.
