OAKLAND CITY, Ind. - Midway got its first set win in River States Conference play Saturday, but lost its momentum in a 21-25, 25-16, 25-7, 25-20 loss to Oakland City in River States Conference women's volleyball action.

The Eagles fell behind 8-5 before scoring five points in a row and would hold the lead for the remainder of the opening set. The Mighty Oaks made things interesting, getting within 23-21 off a timeout, only for a Lindsey Whitehouse kill and an attack error to provide the set's final points.

But it was all Oakland City from that point on, particularly in the third set, where the Mighty Oaks outhit the Eagles .471 to negative .211.

Alyssa Medeiros finished with seven kills and 11 digs, both team highs. Emma Lesher had 12 assists, Aubry Kamholz had three aces and Zoie Hays and Ava Benner both made two blocks.

Now 1-18 with an 0-13 RSC record, Midway host a pair of conference games next weekend, starting with West Virginia Tech at 6 p.m. on Friday.
