MIDWAY, Ky. - The Midway women's soccer team was shutout for the fifth game in a row, this time falling 2-0 to Indiana Columbus on Saturday.
The Crimson Pride struck first in the eighth minute on a goal by Madalynn Phillips.
The Eagles appeared to have found the equalizer with just over five minutes remaining in the first half on a goal by
Sloane Pollock. But after an extended discussion, officials ruled Midway was offsides, negating the apparent score.
The Eagles had multiple scoring opportunities in front of the Crimson Pride net early in the second half but were unable to convert them. Hopes for a comeback then took a bigger hit in the 61st minute on a goal by Rebecca Valdez, which ended the match's scoring.
Midway falls to 4-9-1 overall with a 2-6 record in River States Conference play.
The Eagles conclude the regular season with a pair of home matches next week, the first against Shawnee State at 5 p.m. Thursday.
