MIDWAY, Ky. -- Following a tough loss to WVU Tech the night before, the Midway women's volleyball team faced a quick turnaround when they hosted Rio Grande (Ohio) on Saturday (Oct. 25) inside Marshall Gymnasium.
The Eagles played a tight first set with the visitors, but the RedStorm picked it up to eventually win in straight sets 3-0 (25-22, 25-14, 25-8).
Rio Grande (21-10, 9-4 RSC) finished with a .313 hitting percentage, while their defense held the Eagles to a .026 attacking clip. The RedStorm posted 38 kills and served 12 aces, while Midway finished with just 21 kills and four service aces.
Kayedon Mattingly led the Eagles with six kills and a .250 hitting clip, while
Ava Benner and Zoie Hayes added five and four kills, respectively.
Paige Miles led the Eagles with nine assists and six digs, while
Lindsey Whitehouse dished out eight assists.
Midway, who falls to 1-20 overall and 0-13 in River States Conference play with the loss, returns to action on Tuesday, October 28, when they host IU East (Ind.) at 6 p.m. ET.
