MIDWAY, Ky. - Midway women's volleyball dropped a three-set match 25-19, 25-13, 25-21 to visiting River States Conference foe Indiana East on Tuesday night.
The Eagles never led in the second set but were ahead for extended periods in the first and third.
Midway jumped ahead 5-2 in the opener on three kills from
Alyssa Medeiros and two more from
Zoie Hays.
The Eagles' last lead was 9-8 on a
Mayson Delong ace and the score was last tied at 14 on another Medeiros kill only for the Red Wolves to score eight of the ensuing nine points.
Midway led 15-10 in set three with a 5-0 run, three of those points coming of three more Delong aces. IUE rallied to go ahead 18-17 before the Eagles surged again with a 4-1 run, highlighted by two Medeiros kills and a
Paige Miles ace.
But that would be the final points they would score, with Abby Herman getting service aces for three of the match's final four points.
 Medeiros had nine kills,
Makenna Depue had 13 assists and
Blair Riney and
Ava Benner had seven digs for 1-21 Midway.
The Eagles' season will conclude with three matches next week, starting with a non-conference meeting against in-state opponent Spalding next Tuesday at 7 p.m.
