TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Still searching for its first River States Conference win, Midway was unable to get it against a very good Saint Mary of the Woods team, losing 25-14, 25-17, 25-19 in women's volleyball Wednesday.

After having a negative hitting percentage in the opening set, the Eagles started fast in set two. They jumped ahead 5-2 on an ace by Aubry Kamholz, then led 16-15 on another ace, this one by Aaliya Lawler.

But it was all downhill from there, as a 22-2 Pomeroy team scored 10 of the next 11 points, Midway's lone score in that time coming on a Saint Mary service error.

Midway would strike first on a Makayla Boothe kill but that would be its only advantage in the final set as the Pomeroys completed the sweep.

Alyssa Medeiros had five kills, Emma Lesher had nine assists and Kamholz had seven digs to lead Midway.

Now 1-14 overall and 0-7 in the RSC, the Eagles have a pair of home matches this weekend, starting with a Friday tilt against Indiana Southeast at 7 p.m.
