Men's basketball ends tough week with loss to No. 9 Cumberlands

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. - A brutal week for the Midway men's basketball team concluded with an 86-59 loss to No. 9 Cumberlands on the final day of the Cumbelands Classic Saturday afternoon.

The Eagles held just one lead all day, a 2-1 advantage on a Sam Parrish jump shot. The offense struggled to get much going, shooting just 34 percent while turning the ball over 16 times.

Midway's top two scorers came off the bench, with Preston Hoskins scoring 11 and Breland Morrison adding nine. Decoreio Smith had a team-best seven rebounds for 3-7 Midway.

During the week, the Eagles faced the projected winner of the River States Conference in Rio Grande, NCAA Division-I Bellarmine an a pair of top-25 NAIA opponents in Georgia Gwinnett and Cumberlands.

They'll jump back into the D-I waters on Dec. 16, traveling to Lynchburg, Va. to take on Liberty in a 6 p.m. exhibition.
