MIDWAY, Ky. - Midway overcame a tough Thursday loss by coming out and routing Alice Lloyd 101-67 on Saturday, securing a berth in the River States Conference Championship in the process.
The Eagles crossed the 100-point threshold for the third time this season, eclipsing the century mark on a
Norah Miller layup with 26 seconds remaining.
Sixteen different Midway players scored with five finishing in double figures. Atlatnis White led the way with 18 points, while
Kassidy Daugherty and
Jacie Chesser added 14 and 12 off the bench respectively.
Daugherty hit a game-high four 3-pointers for Midway, which shot 10-of-23 from deep. This was a vast improvement from a Thursday loss to Indiana East, where the Eagles were 1-of-17 from 3-point range.
Kiera Couch was a perfect 6-for-6 shooting to finish with 12 points, two shy of her career high.
A'Lyrica Hughes added 10 with seven rebounds, four steals and three assists.
At 9-5 in league play, the Eagles are two games clear of fourth-place Indiana East in the RSC East Division. The Red Wolves fell to 7-7 with a 74-52 loss to Shawnee State Saturday.
Shawnee, which is comfortably atop the East standings at 13-1, will come to Marshall Gymnasium for a 7:30 p.m. matchup on Tuesday. The Eagles will then conclude the regular season at home against West Virginia Tech next Saturday.
