MIDWAY, Ky. - Midway men's basketball avenged an early season loss Alice Lloyd, building up a big lead and holding on to win 97-93.
The Eagles were led by
Miguel Shaw who scored an impressive 22 points off the bench while also going 4-for-4 from 3-point range. Shaw was particularly strong in the first half, where he scored 18 points in 13 minutes on 7-of-9 shooting
All dressed players for Midway contributed points to the victory with six of the seven scoring double digit. They had similar results team effort on defense with the team averaging 5.7 rebounds per player.
Alongside Shaw the other double-digit scorer were
Creshaun Brown (17),
Decoreio Smith (14),
Nick Keeton (15),
Robbie Henry (13), and
Amari Wales (12)
Midway lead at the half by 14 and 17 just seconds into the half before Alice Lloyd battled back as close as two points. But the Eagles closed out with five made free throws in six attempts in the final 26 seconds to halt a four-game losing streak.
Unfortunately, Saturday also saw the Eagles get eliminated from postseason contention, as Shawnee State's 78-74 win over Indiana East ensured they wouldn't be able to secure a top-four seed in the River States East division.
The Eagles, who are 9-14 overall and 6-8 in conference play, close the season with back-to-back home games, starting with a 5:30 p.m. tip against Shawnee State (Ohio) on Tuesday.
