Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's basketball has a solid last ditch effort but ultimately falls to Kokomo 92-83

MIDWAY, Ky. - Midway men's basketball fought hard but ultimately came up short, losing 92-83 to Indiana Kokomo Saturday afternoon.

The Eagles kept pace with the Cougars in the first few minutes of the game going back and forth with and even taking the lead twice. However, Kokomo would pull away to take a 50-39 halftime lead and would stay ahead the rest of the game.

Midway made a strong push in the second half after the Cougars built up a 17-point lead.

Nick Keeton, Robbie Henry and Amari Wales hit 3-pointers on consecutive possession to cut the deficit to 76-70 with 6:14 to play. Midway then answered another IUK run, getting within 80-76 on a Henry layup with 3:49 to play.

But that would be as close as the Eagles would get, as the Cougars would finish off the game at the free throw line, improving to 16-0 all-time against Midway.

The effort was lead by Decoreio Smith, who scored 16 of his game-high 23 points in the first half.

Other offensive weapons for Midway where Wales, who contributed 18 points and eight rebounds, Henry with 14, Creshaun Brown with 12 and Nick Keeton with 11.

They will look to break their three game losing streak against their next opponent IU-East on Feb. 11, at 5:30 p.m.
