DANVILLE, Ky. - The Midway men's swimming team broke 19 team records at the three-day Mid-South Conference Championships, which concluded at Centre University on Saturday.
Eight swimmers had a hand in the record-setting performance for the Eagles, who finished with 221 points and set program-best marks in all but four events.
Midway finished sixth in all five relays over the weekend, four of which came in team-record times.
In medleys, the 200-yard team (
Daniel Maia,
Jacob Williams, David Roach and
Jalen Wright) swam a 1:37.76, while the 400 group (David Roach, Williams, Blanchard, Wright) finished 3:40.13,Â
In freestyles, the 400 record was set by Wright, Roach,
Luke Logan and Blanchard in 3:22.87 and the 800 was set by Williams, Wright, Blanchard and Roach in 7:34.68.
Wright, Logan, Roach and Blanchard also swam a 1:31.88 in the 200 free, missing the team record by 0.13 seconds.
Other record holders to place inside the top-10Â were Roach in the 100 butterfly (seventh, 53.16), Williams in the 100 breast (eighth, 58.95) and Blanchard in the 200 fly (ninth, 2:03.41)
Additional team records were set by Roach in 100 back (56.25), 50 fly (24.67) and 200 individual medley (2:01.81); Williams in the 100 (58.95) and 200 breast (2:12.66);Â Wright in the 50 (22.30) and 100 free (49.64); Maia in the 50 back (25.33) and 400 IM (4:56.03); Blanchard in the 200 free (1:54.36),
Jack Logan in the 500 free (5:12.12) and
Challen Waychoff in the 200 back (2:08.75).Â
