Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

Men's volleyball drops penultimate match at Brescia

OWENSBORO, Ky. - After struggling in the first two sets, Midway men's volleyball nearly rallied for an impressive third-set, comeback win, but ultimately couldn't close in what became a 25-16, 25-13, 28-26 River States Conference loss to Brescia Friday night.

The night began badly as the Eagles fell behind 7-1 in the opening set and never led in either of the first two. Things looked to be going in a similar direction as the Bearcats took a 21-14 lead late into set three.

But the Eagles responded behind great net play from Jai'Den Chinnis, who had four kills and two blocks during an 11-3 run. Chinnis stopped a Brescia set point with a kill before a Jose Conde block and Bearcat error put Midway in the driver's seat up 25-24.

The teams then traded points, Midway getting another set point at 26-25 on a Jordan Daily kill, but the match eventually ended with the Eagles recording three-consecutive attack errors.

Chinnis finished with 12 kills, many set up by Noah Fichter and Daily, who had 11 and 10 assists respectively. Defensively, Midway was led by Lincoln Anderson's match-high 10 digs.

The Eagles, who are 4-18 overall and 1-14 in the RSC, will conclude their season at St. Mary of the Woods (Ind.) and noon on Sunday.
