TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Midway men's volleyball season came to a close with a 25-14, 25-15, 28-26 loss to River States Conference foe St. Mary of the Woods (Ind.) Saturday afternoon.
As they did
Friday night against Brescia, the Eagles struggled in the first two sets before putting up a major battle in the third.
Down 13-11, Midway got a kill from
Steven Tippenhauer, which kicked off a stretch of 29 points where no team ever led by more than one.
In one 22-point stretch, there was only one moment where a team scored consecutive points. In that run, the Eagles twice fought off match point, the first on a Tippenhauer kill to make it 25-25, the second on a service error that tied the set at 26.
That would be as close as they would get, unfortunately, as SMWC ended things on kills by Joseph Szadorski and Caden Harretos, both off of Michael Olak assists.
Senior
Jai'Den Chinnis closed his Midway career with a match-high 16 kills, most of which were set up by
Jordan Daily, who led Midway with 24 assists.
Midway finishes the regular season with a record of 4-19.
