MIDWAY, Ky. -Â On Tuesday, it was announced that Midway athletics came in fourth in the Michael J. Schell River States Conference Commissioner's All-Sports Cup standings, tying for the second-best finish in school history.
The Eagles finished in a fourth-place tie with Indiana Kokomo with 59 points, but earned the No. 4 spot via tie-breaker after winning two conference championships to the Cougars' one.
Rio Grande took the cup with 69 points, with Oakland City (65) and Shawnee State (63) finishing in the second and third spots respectively.
Commissioner's Cup standings are determined based on team finishes during the school year, with 10 points going to a conference champion, nine for a runner-up, and so on.Â
For sports with regular-season standings, points are recorded from regular-season finishes. For those that don't, points are taken from finishes at a conference tournament.
Final scores are recorded from the top-seven finishing teams from each school.
Leading the charge for Midway in 2024-25
were the men's and
women's golf programs, which both earned 10 points via their first-place finishes at their respective RSC Tournaments.
Earning nine points apiece were the Eagle tennis programs,
with both the men and women finishing second in the regular season River States standings.
Rounding out the scoring wereÂ
men's cross country,
women's cross country and
women's indoor track and field teams, who all recorded seven points via fourth-place showing at the RSC Championships.
Only once has Midway finished higher in the Commissioner's Cup standings,
placing second at the end of the 2022-23 school year.
This is the school's second fourth-place finish,
the previous one coming in 2021-22.Â
