RIO GRANDE, Ohio -- The Midway women's volleyball team wrapped up play in the Emileigh Jo Cooper Memorial Classic on Sunday when they battled fellow River States Conference foes Kentucky Christian University and Shawnee State (Ohio) in a pair of non-conference matchups.
The opener saw Kentucky Christian record a 3-0 sweep (25-11, 25-23, 25-21) of Midway before Shawnee State did the same, sweeping the Eagles 3-0 (25-20, 25-23, 25-14). Following the weekend,

Kentucky Christian 3, Midway 0
The Eagles collected 30 kills compared to just 26 by the Knights (2-2), but they were plagued by 28 hitting errors. Kentucky Christian committed just 13 attacking miscues, while they also served 13 aces against the Blue and Gold.
Mayson Delong led the offensive effort with a match-high 10 kills, while
Ava Benner tallied eight in a losing effort.
Lindsey Whitehouse ran the offense and dished out 23 assists to go with her six digs.
Blair Riney, meanwhile, tied Whitehouse with a team-high six digs.
Shawnee State 3, Midway 0
Similar to the opener earlier in the day, the Eagles were plagued by attacking miscues. Against the Bears (9-3), Midway recorded 27 kills and committed 27 errors, while Shawnee State put down 34 kills in 96 swings with 22 attacking errors.
Benner (11) and Delong (7) once again led the offensive effort combining for 18 of Midway's 27 kills.
Kaylen Gallenstein had an efficient outing, notching four kills in 11 swings.
Whitehouse carded 11 assists and five digs, while
Aaliyah Lawler and
Aubry Kamholz led the defensive effort. Lawler and Kamholz each recorded season-highs with 11 and nine digs, respectively.
