MIDWAY, Ky. - Midway was unable to breakthrough the Cincinnati Clermont defense, as the Cougars spoiled the Eagles' home opener with a 3-0 shutout in women's soccer Saturday.

All three Cougar goals came in the first half. Kaylee Rose score unassisted in the 13th minute with Ava Scherz and Brooklyn Applegate scoring in the 18th and 35th respectively off of assists by Natalie Rice and Alexis Taylor.

The Eagles finished with eight shots with four on goal, but were unable to push any past Cougar keeper Jordan Geis.

Saturday was the first loss of the season for Midway, which will enter River States Conference play with a record of 2-1-1.

The Eagles will be back home for their conference opener against Saint Mary of the Woods at 5 p.m. Thursday.
