MIDWAY, Ky. — Midway University and Clark's Pump-N-Shop have teamed up to honor one male and one female student-athlete each week as the Clark's Pump-N-Shop Athletes of the Week.
The weekly award recognizes the outstanding performances of one male and one female Midway student-athlete. Winners are selected by the department's head coaches based on their performances from the previous week and are announced each Monday morning on the Midway Athletics website and social media platforms.
"Clark's Pump-N-Shop is proud to be the sponsor of the Midway University Athletes of the Week for both men's and women's sports," said Rick Clark, co-owner of Clark's Pump-N-Shop.
Chase Williams (Sprint Football) takes home Male Athlete of the Week honors following an explosive performance in Midway's 54-35 victory over Quincy University in the Midwest Sprint Football League semifinals.
Williams caught four passes for 98 yards and two touchdowns while adding an 85-yard punt return touchdown. The junior wide receiver accounted for three touchdowns in the victory, helping the Eagles advance to the MSFL championship game. His touchdown receptions came from 15 and 55 yards, while his punt return helped Midway build a commanding first-half advantage.
Williams is a junior from Independence, Kentucky.
Alana Utlak (Equestrian Western) takes home Female Athlete of the Week honors following an impressive weekend competing for the Eagles. Utlak earned High Point Rider honors during Saturday's competition before following that performance by tying for High Point Rider honors on Sunday.
The senior from Greenville, Pennsylvania, delivered standout performances on consecutive days, highlighting a successful weekend for Midway's western equestrian program. Utlak is a biology major and a two-time Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association national champion in horsemanship.
