Tate Gill places fifth at IHSA Western Nationals

MILL SPRING, N.C. - Tate Gill concluded his storied career with the Midway western equestrian program Friday with a strong showing at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Associaiton National Championship.

Competing in the open horsemanship division, Gill finished in fifth place.

The senior and Erie, Mich. native reached nationals in each of his last two seasons at Midway. He was a reserve champion in level-two horsemanship in 2025.

Gill is one of two Midway western riders to qualify for the 2026 national tournament. Teammate Lauren Arens-Ennis will ride in the level-one horsemanship division beginning Saturday morning.
