GRAYSON, Ky. -- The Midway baseball team secured its four consecutive River States Conference series victory on Saturday after splitting the doubleheader with Kentucky Christian.
The Eagles got a pair of home runs from
Alex Scoular and another solid pitching performance from
Tyler Pyles to win the opener 11-3. The Knights were able to salvage the series and win game three by a final score of 5-2.
Following the weekend, the Eagles sit at 19-7 overall and 9-3 in league play. They're set to return to action on Tuesday, March 24, when they take on Pikeville (Ky.) at 2 p.m. ET.
GAME ONE: Midway 11, Kentucky Christian 3
The Eagles were held scoreless for the first two innings but got on the board with a run in the third and five in the fifth.
Pedro Morales got the Eagles out to an early 1-0 lead with an RBI single in the third.
Then, in the fifth, Scoular opened the inning with a solo home run, while

Noah Atherholt, and
Mahrlon Torres each had RBIs pushing Midway's lead to 6-0. The Knights got a run back in the bottom of the fifth, but Midway responded with four in the sixth.
For the second consecutive inning it was Scoular, who opened the inning with a solo home run, his third of the season. Morales, Voorhees, and Torres followed with RBIs as Midway's lead grew to 10-1.
Cole Ginter capped the scoring for the Eagles when he drove in a run after reaching on a fielder's choice in the eighth inning.
The run support was more than enough for Pyles, who picked up the win on the bump and improved to 6-0 on the season. The southpaw allowed one run on two hits with 10 strikeouts in his six innings of work.
GAME TWO: Kentucky Christian 5, Midway 2
Unlike the opener, it was Kentucky Christian that jumped out to an early lead. The home team scored two runs in the first and second innings Â
The Midway offense, which put up 11 runs on 11 hits in the opener, struggled to get anything going against KCU right-hander, Isaac Bellamy. He sat the Eagles down in order through the first three innings and didn't allow a base runner until the fourth.
Bellamy took a no-hitter into sixth before Midway's offense got going, scoring two runs on three hits.
Mark Harmon Jr. got the first hit for the Eagles, while Atherholt drove in Midway's first run with an RBI single.
Grant Stone later cut the deficit to 4-2 with an RBI groundout.
The Knights added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth before Midway made things interesting. They loaded the bases with one out, but Isaiah Emmons got back-to-back outs to seal the 5-2 victory and salvage the series with a game three victory.
Nathan McKissick was dealt the loss after allowing four runs on five hits in his five innings of work.
