OXFORD, Ohio - Three riders qualified for regionals, as Midway closed the regular season strong at the Miami Univesity (Ohio) Shows on Saturday and Sunday.
As a team, the Eagles won reserve high point honors on Saturday, while
Finley Scheffel (intermediate fences),
Riley Whelan (intermediate fences) and
Josephine Rodriguez Thomas (limit over fences) all secured spots at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association's Hunt Seat Regionals next weekend.
SATURDAY
Scheffel was the winner in intermediate fences Saturday, with fellow regional qualifier Whelean placing third.
Reese Dorsey also had a first-place ride in open flat, with
Alexis Williams,
Amber Zupancic and
Izellah Price finishing second in limit fences, pre-novice flat and introductory flat respectively.
SUNDAY
Scheffel and Whelan were first and second in open flat with Scheffel also winning open fences to close the day as high-point rider.
Others in first place Sunday were
Zoe Macbeth in intermediate fences and
Cassandra Doucette in intermediate flat.
Other second-place finishers were
Mary Helen Hickey in intermediate flat,
Isabella DiCenzo in novice flat and Price in introductory flat.
Midway will be right back in Oxford, Ohio next Saturday for the IHSA Hunt Seat Regionals.
