MIDWAY, Ky. - Midway's men's volleyball team played its second-to-last match of the 2026 season on Friday in which it dropped a 26-24, 25-20, 25-20 final to River States Conference rival Brescia.
After the Eagles jumped out to a 5-2 lead, a back-and-forth set would proceed to have 11 ties and five lead changes.
Midway would rally to take a 21-20 lead on a kill by
Jordan Daily before the Bearcats scored four of the next five points to get to set point.
The Eagles came roaring back again to tie the set at 24 after consecutive errors before the Bearcats closed things out on kills by Mustafa Yildiz and Remi Pit.
That would be the most competitive set the Eagles would play, with Brescia starting fast and keeping them at arm's length in the second and third.
JT Kimball,
Braden Cacek and
Lars Ketelaars led the attack with seven, six and five kills respectively, with Daily and
Noah Fichter setting them up with 25 combined assists. Daily had 13 with Fichter recording 12.
Gabriel Plata added 10 digs for an Eagle team that will end the season with a home match against Saint Mary of the Woods Saturday. A senior day celebration will be held prior to the match's 2 p.m. start time.
