WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. - The Midway archery team returned after more than two months out of action, competing at both the Collegiate Target Nationals and Mid-South Conference Outdoor Championships this weekend.
TARGET NATIONALS
The Eagles had a pair of strong showings in the official team round, particularly in the barebow college women's division, where
Elizabeth Applegate,
Kimberly Mattingly and
Karaline Ratliff made it all the way to the finals.
After a 6-2 win in the quarterfinals and a 5-4 win in the semis, the Midway trio lost 5-1 to Anastacia Godman, Maria Sampson and Morgan Wilson of Lindsey Wilson in the championships round.
Kelli Booth,
Madi Wilson and
Jessica Badgett reached the consolation bracket in fixed pins women's, finishing fourth overall.
Midway's best finisher in the individual ranking rounds was Booth, who placed sixth with a two-round score of 644 in women's fixed pin.
Others to place in the top-10 were
Elizabeth Applegate, who was ninth with a 429 in barebow college women and
Hannah Welts, who was 10th amongst recurve college women with a 483.
MID-SOUTH OUTDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Eagles got a fourth-place, fixed-pin finish from Booth and
Philip Thompson in the mixed-team round, after the duo defeated Carter Shinavier and Riley Baker of Union 140-129 in the quarterfinals.
Booth and Thompson were also rewarded with spots on the Mid-South's Champions of Character team, which was announced on Saturday.
The Eagles are off again for over a month before concluding the 2025-26 season in Lansing, Mich. at the USA Archery Outdoor National Championships on May 14-17.
