MIDWAY, Ky. — Midway University and Clark's Pump-N-Shop have teamed up to honor one male and one female student-athlete each week as the Clark's Pump-N-Shop Athletes of the Week.
The weekly award recognizes the outstanding performances of one male and one female Midway student-athlete. Winners are selected by the department's head coaches based on their performances from the previous week and are announced each Monday morning on the Midway Athletics website and social media platforms.
"Clark's Pump-N-Shop is proud to be the sponsor of the Midway University Athletes of the Week for both men's and women's sports," said Rick Clark, co-owner of Clark's Pump-N-Shop.
Saleh Ekuchi of the men's soccer team is this week's male Athlete of the Week. Ekuchi had an impressive week as the men's soccer team won all three of its games. During the three-game stretch, Ekuchi scored three goals, recorded three assists and tallied two game-winning goals, including an 88th-minute tally against Governors State on Sunday. Ekuchi is a Louisville, Ky., native and an exercise science major.
Alanah Bryant of the Midway archery team is this week's female Athlete of the Week. After shooting a grueling 40-target course through the woods against some of the Mid-South Conference's best archers on Friday, Bryant earned the No. 1 seed. During Saturday's shootdowns, she defended her top spot against four other top MSC archers and remained in first place. Bryant is an Anderson County native and an equine major.
