Midway men's tennis drops RSC championship match

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Midway put up a good fight in the River States Conference championship match, but No. 19 Oakland City had too much firepower, winning a fourth-consecutive conference title by the final of 4-0 on Saturday.

The Mighty Oaks have beaten the Eagles in four-consecutive championship matches, all of which have been by the final of 4-0.

The Eagles did earn first-set wins at singles positions No. 1 and 2. Ricardo Starosta topped Jose Andres Perez 7-6 at No. 1 while Ferran Clapes Ballart beat Samarbir Sidhu 6-2 at No. 2.

Both matches were still in the second set when the clinching point was scored.

Midway concludes the season with a record of 7-6. Under first-year head coach Roscoe Moonieyan, the Eagles had five All-Conference players, including RSC Newcomer of the Year Starosta.
