OAKLAND CITY, Ind. - Midway played close in the third set of a 3-0 men's volleyball defeat to Oakland City Tuesday, losing 25-13, 25-17, 25-23 to a River States Conference opponent receiving votes in the NAIA national poll.
After falling behind 4-1 in the third set, the Eagles took a pair of one-point leads on late services aces. The first was by
Lincoln Anderson to make it 17-16, the second by
Tyler Goldfine to make it 20-19.
The score would then be tied three more times, the last time at 22-22 on a
Jaden Alston kill, before the Mighty Oaks scored three of the last four points, officially winning on a Paul Mueller kill.
Anderson finished with 14 digs.
Noah Fichter had 10 assists and
JT Kimball and
Lars Ketelaars both had six kills for the Eagles, who will conclude their season with two conference home matches this weekend.
The first will be against Brescia at 6 p.m. Friday.
