Pittsburgh, Pa. -- After a pair of tough games last week against West Virginia Tech and No. 3 Rio Grande (Ohio), the Midway University men's soccer team returned to action on Friday when they traveled to Highmark Stadium in Pittsburgh, Pa. to take on Point Park (Pa.).
The Pioneers (7-3, 2-1 RSC) scored three goals in the first half and added a penalty kick in the second half to walk away with the 4-0 win over the Eagles (3-4-1, 0-2-1 RSC).
Point Park dominated the possession throughout and the scoresheet showed as they held a 21-10 advantage in shots and a 14-5 edge in shots on goal.
The Pioneers scored goals in the 1st, 26th and 29th minutes in the first half to take a 3-0 lead into the locker room. The home team added a penalty kick in the 74th minute to make the final score 4-0.
Leading the way for the Eagles offensively was Harry Kirwan (Lincoln, England). The senior had three shots with one on frame to lead the offensive attack. Seniors, Pol Marco (Barcelona, P.R.) and Brad Wilson (Lincoln, England) each had two shots, with one shot on goal.
Senior goalkeeper, Christian Neira took the loss for the Eagles in goal. The Santiago, Chile native played all 90 minutes in goal for Midway and allowed four goals, but finished with 10 saves in the loss.
The Eagles will continue their stay in Pittsburgh, Pa. as they continue River States Conference play by taking on Carlow (Pa.) at 6 p.m. ET in Highmark Stadium. Live video will be available for the match by clicking here.
