MIDWAY, Ky. - After helping to lead a late-season offensive explosion, Midway junior
George Spencer captured the final River States Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honor of the 2025-26 regular season.
Spencer scored a goal
in a 4-1 win over Shawnee State on Thursday, then added two more
in a 4-0 victory over Indiana East to conclude the regular season Saturday.
This came after an Oct. 25 game against Indiana Columbus in which he assisted on a 54th-minute, game-winning Lucas Perotte goal
in a 2-1 Eagle victory.Â
In ninth place and outside the six-team RSC Tournament beforehand, the win over Columbus started a three-game conference win streak that elevated the Eagles into the postseason field as the No. 5 seed.
Midway, which has won four games in a row overall, will travel to Terre Haute, Ind. to face No. 4-seed Saint Mary of the Woods in the RSC quarterfinals at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.Â
Spencer is the fourth Eagle player to win one of the conference's weekly awards this season.
Rhys Dickson and
Ben Banton were named top offensive player on
Sept. 1 and
Sept. 22 respectively, while goalie
Connor Vincent was last week's
defensive winner.Â
