MIDWAY, Ky. - A great late-game stand helped Midway goalie
Connor Vincent win the River States Conference Defensive Player of the Week award for the third time in his college career.
Vincent finished with nine saves in a 2-1, non-conference win over Asbury last Wednesday, highlighted a pair of saves in the 83rd minute, in which had to come all the way to the front of the goalie box to deny a pair of attempts in a 1-1 game.
This immediately set up a game-winning goal by
Ben Banton less than a minute later.
The junior from Franklin, Ky. won Defensive Player of the Week honors twice last season, doing so on both
Sept. 2 and
Oct. 14.
This is the third weekly award for an Eagle in 2025, with
Rhys Dickson and Banton winning on
Sept. 1 and
Sept. 22 respectively.
Still hoping to secure a spot in the RSC Tournament, the Eagles have two critical home matches to close the regular season this week, beginning with a 7:30 p.m. showdown with Shawnee State on Thursday.
