GEORGETOWN, Ky. -- After having to postpone Thursday's matchup with Ohio Christian, the Midway men's soccer team returned to action on Saturday when they made the short drive down I-64 to battle Georgetown (Ky.) in their final road contest of the season.
The Tigers scored just 16 seconds into the contest and unfortunately for the Eagles, it was a sign of what was to come. The home team built a 6-0 lead at halftime before cruising to the 8-0 victory.
Georgetown – who improved to 14-4 overall with the win – finished the match holding a 44-5 edge in shots and a 24-2 advantage in shots on goal.
Midway didn't have many chances to score after putting just two shots on frame. Brandon Ballard (Harrodsburg, Ky.) and Denson Jenkins (Harrodsburg, Ky.) accounted for Midway's two shots in the loss.
Jared Howard (Danville, Ky.) got the start in goal making 10 saves in his 75:15 in goal. Cole Constant (Glasgow, Ky.), meanwhile, played the final 14:45 in goal and stopped six shots.
Midway – who falls to 1-15 overall – will now turn their attention to their regular season finale against Ohio Christian which has major implications on the River States Conference playoff picture.
Kickoff between the Eagles and the Trailblazers is set for 1:30 p.m. ET on Monday, Nov. 4, at the Falling Springs Center. The address for the complex is 275 Beasley Rd., Versailles, KY 40383.
