WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. -- The Midway University men's tennis team was back in action on Tuesday, March 26, when they traveled to Williamsburg, Ky. to take on the University of the Cumberlands in a non-conference matchup.
Cumberlands would sweep all three doubles matches before winning all six singles matches en route to the 9-0 sweep of the Eagles.
The Patriots – who are ranked No. 18 in the latest NAIA Men's Tennis Coaches Poll – posted a pair of 8-1 wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, while grabbing an 8-2 win at No. 3 to take a 3-0 lead into singles play.
Julian Lopez (Bogota, Colombia) won three games at No. 1 singles and David Alfaro (Cali, Colombia) won five at No. 2, but the Patriots would cruise in singles to the 9-0 victory.
Midway will return to River States Conference play on Thursday when they travel to Wilmore, Ky. to take on Asbury (Ky.).
