WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. -- After a pair of River States Conference matches, the Midway University women's tennis team stepped out of league play on Tuesday when they traveled to Williamsburg, Ky to battle the University of the Cumberlands.
The Patriots – who are ranked No. 20 in the latest NAIA Coaches Poll – showcased why they're ranked in the top-25 as they swept all nine matches en route to the 9-0 victory over the Eagles.
Cumberlands won 8-1 at both No. 2 and No. 3 doubles before posting an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles to take a 3-0 lead into single play.
The Eagles won seven games in singles play but struggled to slow down the Patriots as they would cruise to the 9-0 victory.
Midway will return to action on Thursday when they travel to Wilmore, Ky. to take on Asbury (Ky.) who is receiving votes in the latest NAIA Coaches Poll.
